Story Idea: Constantly-Harassed Anchor and an Alien Possessor

What do you think of this premise? What would you recommend improving or changing?

A man lives under the constant harassment of an alien entity that uses him as its doorway into the human world.

Humanity originates from a primordial being whose substance enables biological stability. Entities from outer planes lack this substance and are therefore incompatible with the laws of human reality. To cross the boundary between planes, they must consume fragments of this primordial matter and gradually metabolize it.

The protagonist was turned into an anchor, a living intersection between worlds. A fragment from the creature’s plane was implanted into his body, allowing the entity access to human reality. The creature cannot inhabit or harm him, but it can possess other human bodies within his proximity, provided it has metabolized enough primordial substance.

Since his transformation, the entity has been leaping from host to host around him. It might inhabit a stranger on the street, someone offering help, or a figure of authority. When possessing a body, it appears entirely human, even charismatic, yet subtle behavioral dissonances reveal a consciousness that does not think in human terms. Its actions are not driven by cruelty but by obsessive curiosity about matter, organic systems, and cause-and-effect. The destruction it causes is the byproduct of experimentation.

The protagonist, once a member of the cult that made him an anchor as punishment, now seeks to find those responsible and force them to remove the implanted element from his body. Breaking the connection would end the creature’s access to the world. However, the cult relies on the anchor’s existence and will not allow him to escape.

As long as he remains alive and unchanged, he is the breach through which an alien intelligence enters human reality.
