Thoughts on Genshin Impact?

I know this game doesn't have the best reputation but as someone who has been playing for the past nearly 6 years as we are approaching the end of the game's roadmap, I wanted to connect with others to see what people really think of the game. Whether it be the writing, gameplay or the direction of the game.

My personal thoughts are mixed on the game. I started playing the game because of its story and setting (that being a Medieval fantasy setting). However, in recent years, the game has been HEAVILY going in a more sci-fi direction, which is upsetting. I came to play Anime Zelda, not Anime Fortnite. Gameplay still good, even if the newer stuff is more predatory.

Wait why does it have a bad rep?
The game itself is fine (For the most part)
There was the whole voice actor debacle that affected all three games. (But otherwise all three games are fine ish)
I had to stop playing them because they were time/money sinks. But I enjoyed my time with them.

that is honestly a whole rabbit to get into but to sum it up, it boils down to the wild player base and the devs getting greedy and not listening to player feedback.

Yeah, I knew it was something like that, somewhere around when ZZZ started they stopped listening to feed back entirely. Genshin itself is harmless though, outside of the VA strike thing.

I find it hard to believe the fanbase was that 'wild' though (other than the obvious stuff related to Gatcha games with lots a females in them I mean) because the Sonic fanbase exists, and I say this as a casual sonic liker.

The only fanbase that I've encountered (Major series wise) that seems to be genuinely good/wholesome is Dragon Quest. Maybe Splatoon if you don't post on the reddit all tilted. Monster Hunter too a bit but for different reasons.

Zelda fanbase is kinda mixed, the only thing I don't like is how they consistantly get hyped up over literally no info on a game.

Could talk all day about the pokemon fanbase. (Good and bad) lol

When I meant by 'wild', I was more referring to the first anniversary incident.

I don't interact much with online communities, but I believe that Minecraft community for the most part seems alright.

I would say I have some googling to do but now I'm terrified lol

I rarely interact with them unless I'm sharing thoughts on something / want advice.
I mostly hang out in a few discords. Reddit can be hit or miss.

sorry for scaring you =)
Better than what the undertale fanbase did at one point. Literal murder (attempt) of a random hater. (I'm not even joking)
As for 'pleasant' online communties to be around. Here's mine, in no particular order.

Bayonetta
Monster Hunter (Just don't be all tilted when asking for advise)
Splatoon (Same as Monster Hunter)
Minecraft (Most wholesome out of the lot)
Pokemon (Very mixed experiences, but otherwise good)
Hollow Knight (Generally welcoming though be prepared for some 'get good' spam at times)
Dark Souls/Eldin Ring (Generally helpful if you don't come in all tilted. Don't 'feed the trolls' either)
Pokemon Pokopia (Wholesome / fun in general)
Animal Crossing (Same reasons as Pokopia)
Xenoblade X (Just don't 'critique' the game negatively) / Xenoblade in General (Don't 'stir the pot' in character discussions though)
Dragon Quest.
Zelda. (Don't submit your random fanfic for review though)

I interact mostly through reddit (Which, not the best place to interact) and Discord servers. Honestly find a few discords and you're off to the races.
