Ah, my fifth post. Greetings!
I've enjoyed reading the threads here, though, I'm finding I don't have much to contribute at this time because I am just starting this adventure. I'm looking forward to learning from the group.
Finally, after nearly two decades of false starts and wishful thinking, I am ready to write some of the stories that have been brewing in my brain. I enjoy reading Guy Gavriel Kay, Jim Butcher, Tad Williams, and Patricia McKillip. Sadly, I couldn't bring myself to slog through A Song of Fire and Ice or Lord of the Rings. I lack the patience for such grand tales. Most of what I enjoy reading, and have written in the past, tends to be smaller stories that are more about the characters than the plot or setting.
On the personal side, I'm a technical writer with past careers as a corporate trainer and graphics technician, mother of a teenaged daughter, widow (though now in a long-term relationship), hobbyist photographer, horseback rider, and would-be bread maker.
