I work at the Dayton VA hospital.

1. Suprised at how little blood a gun shot wound bled.

2. Amazed at how many badges and guns can assemble in such a short time.

3. Proving again, the sign on all entrances wrong.
"For your safety, Weapons and firearms are not allowed."
Pretty sure people felt more secure with 50 men with guns entered the building, and a sign did not stop a criminal.
most of the time, it takes a person with a gun to stop a person with a gun.

4. amazed at all the different branches of law enforcement that arrived in short notice. Dayton PD, County Sheriffs, State police, Ohio department of natural resources, Park rangers, FBI.

Response time: Code team called, bandaged victim on scene, VA police arrived on scene. Rushed with police Escort victim to ED, ran back to unit(which I passed to get to ED), told of shooting, Heavily armed police swept through the clinic area and everyone ushered into parking lot area.
Basically in less then 20 minutes 50-60 armed law enforcement had arrived. (For AFSP's definately had a 15 in 5, beat the 40 in 4 to hell.) Most of these were armed with shotguns or .556 caliber semi auto rifles. (basically AR and GEU)

Dayton PD even sent out mechanically questionable vehicles to get people to the scene. (Saw a car with peeled paint and engine sounded terrible.)

Except for the initial call(The one that sent the code team(including me) into a hostile shooter area.) it seemed to go as planned.
The 6 P's demonstrated perfectly. Prior planning prevents piss poor performance. (TI spittle not included. (Sgt Barnes:D)

Sounds... special? I'm living in my own little bubble and haven't heard anything. What happened?

Edit: apart from what you just described I mean

Wow. Definitely more exciting than my life. Though I did lock myself out of the car 65 miles away from home. I was so mad that I was considering breaking the window with a rock. Fortunately my hubby came to rescue me, and then we ate at Cracker Barrel. So all's well that ends well.

The 6 p's...LOL! Sometimes I think those ought to be taught at schools alongside the 3 r's (reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic, for those of you who aren't familiar with American parlance).

Slipped and put my arms through the thin Plexiglas roof of my greenhouse earlier tonight. Not injured, but annoying.

Good thing you didn't break that window. Windshields are not cheap, but are not that hard to find. Side windows, now...real expensive.

A retired former employee with domestic issues sought to hold a current employee at gun point while he planned to punch him with his free hand. He never got the chance, the men struggled and the gun fired.

The operator called a code for medical team to respond to the shooting, ignoring the fact that it was a shooting and that every person responding could be 1.hostages or 2. killed as they approached. So I responded with the team to the shooting victim arriving 2-3 minutes ahead of police. (see #2) bandaged the victim and got him to the emergency room with police escort.
Then was rushed out by SWAT to wait in the parking lot.
