What's a 'famous' movie you haven't seen?

Not particularly famous as in made the most money but like, known for being good. Stuff on my watch list at some point.

The Shining
The Room
The Godfather

Those are the only ones off the top of my head (that I haven't seen)

I dont know. Ive seen 1000s of movies at this point. I am sure their are many ive missed but not many that would make a top 100 list.

CupofJoe

Myth Weaver
The Room [2003]? I had to look that one up. And now I have, I think it's a pass from me... :)
There are plenty of films I haven't seen, but the two I feel need to see are:
All Quiet on the Western Front [1930] and
Wings [1927]
I have seen scenes and snippets from both and know their reputations.

Romy

Titanic (so please do not tell me how that ends...)
The women (I only know the famous 'polite swearing' kennel joke)

Wings I have encountered in an aborted attempt to watch all Oscar movies so it is out there. Bit of top-gun but with a different vibe :)

2001: A Space Odyssey
Close Encounters of the Third Kind [though I'll likely be watching it next year for the 50th anniversary]
Titanic
Gladiator
Highlander
The Godfather
Nolan's Batman trilogy
every James Bond movie
Every James Bond movie will be a marathon.
I kinda wanna see The God Father too.
2001: A space Odyssey is also on my list.

I just need people to motivate me to do so and, so far, I just can't find anyone passionate enough. So, choosing my own projects I'm gonna go very slow with it. And there's some movies like pretty much every Rom-Com that I have no desire to ever spend time on, so, if anything, I'll settle for reading the summary.

The Shining is good, but I think that is mostly Kubrick and Nicholson. Pretty much, I dont like any Steven King movie.

You know, all this movie catching up is easy to fix....

Not seeing Star Wars is like me saying I've never seen Gone with the Wind or Wizard of Oz. You are just not in the conversation unless you have.

I've had to set up my own watch list and watch it at my own pace, so I basically just jump around randomly from what seems interesting to me or what is in a preexisting watch order. Star Wars just never made the list.

So you have said.

If you wish to remain un-immersed of it, that is your choice. But Star Wars has shaped much of the culture and much of storytelling for 50 years. You cant know your craft if you don't know the things that influence it. Its kind of like showing up to class without doing your homework. Maybe you will get a pass. More likely, you wont.

I'll just leave it to you.

That is a valid reason, plenty of people are not into scifi or fantasy, not even sure were sw fits in really ;)
Just like it is ok not to have read Lord of the Rings... or even not liking the stories.

You can like music without liking opera... or metal... or both...

Post was written the same time as your post and more towards ThrillhoBaggins (should have quoted). Not being interested is a valid reason (well, having other stuff that interests more really). Yes you are missing out.

I like lord of the rings, I like star wars (not following every series that pops up now because I just don't follow tv a lot).
Why can't you like fantasy if you don't?

I did refuse to read lord of the rings for a long time while known to like fantasy, because it was a classic and 'I had to'.
I had a teacher that forced too much 'required reading' (Many not even classics, just the stuff he knew and didn't have to bother reading anything new) and I gave up reading for several years until I read Pratchettt. I even would be in front of his class 'have you read it?' No. I was 20 when I got out of highschool...
I did read lotr only because the movies were coming and 'now or never'. For me. Not because someone told me I had to. And yes, I am glad I did because reading them after the movie would be impossible to enjoy them as much.

I do not know why I am here, to be honest I don't think I fit in here but not because there is stuff I did or did not read or movies I did not watch.

I would say I am interested in a lot, but there are some things that have a lot of stuff that would need to be edited out to be interesting. For example, I would cut out all of the love triangle stuff from the Hobbit movies and I think that would be a vast improvement.
