Which raw materials would elves make for ordinary materials?

This is probably a silly question, but have you considered inventing a material? Or would you prefer to stick to a combination of fantasy (Elves) and real-world constraints (building material possibilities)?

(My apologies if I've missed something in the thread that speaks to this, by the way.)

I'm not at all sure what's being asked here. A raw material is by definition a material that is not made. So how are elves (or anyone) to make a raw material? And if they can *make* it--leaving out the modifier "raw"--then you are free to have them make anything you please. Make it up, put it into your textbook, and away you go.
