I was looking for some feedback on some world building concepts I had in my head while crafting my story. Dragons are the primary magical creatures in this universe and those with dragonic blood in their veins are capable of using magic. Most of the general populous doesn't look fondly on the dragon race as they were responsible a near world ending cataclysm that happened five millennia ago.
The first half of my story I'm working on takes place on one hemisphere where magic is seen with disdain after the grand cataclysm that originally destroyed the ancient world. In the shadow of those ideals, technology has become much more favored as the current setting is a steampunk medieval Industrial Revolution to more or less explain it in simpler terms. The second half of my story which I'd plan to release as a sequel reveals the other hemisphere has evolved to embrace magic as a cultural way of life yet the populous still has a strong hatred of the dragon race. This half of the world is much more medieval fantasy as we would see it in the traditional sense.
How these two hemispheres are tied together is a dimensional gate that also acts as a prison to the soul of an ancient deceased god of destruction that was destroyed after the ancients used a super weapon to eliminate the threat. Effectively, the world of Dranaverun (working title) is locked away from the rest of space in a separate spatial reality. Naturally, inhabitants of both worlds would be shocked to realize that the ancient legends and old wives tales were actually true.
