How far can you go with taboo situations in published fiction? (

Eh, sounds a bit chuni to me, but that's authors for you. There's a honesty in exploring your darker emotions.

Hm, worst thing I've probably put to paper is having my protagonist mutilate a prisoner by chopping his balls off. I mean, he was the abusive brother of one of the protagonist's comrades but still.

I've toyed with the idea of some worse stuff as part of various characters backstories, but never really got a chance to go into details about them in the actual story.
