Magic that's FUN to read?

Brandon Sanderson has some good magic in his "Mistborn Trilogy." There's people in the book capable of "burning" certain metals that they ingest to perform some certain super human feet. There's coinshots who can launch coins at people at super rates of speed. There's thugs who can enhance their bodily strength. There are very few people who can use all abilities that the various metals afford and these people are called "Mistborns."

It works out sorta like Avatar: The Last Airbender....
