How can you give this child the name of her son

When you took him and murdered him, what have you done

And you’ve murdered his brother, his sister is dead

You scrape out their triumphs with footprints of red

You abuse your own children you fathered with she

You force them to be what you want them to be

You build them straw towers on the soil of the graves

Of the brothers who failed them by hiding in caves

She gave you her dowry, you threw it away

Her father knew best, I don’t care what you say

You see all she is and you strip it away

Because you wonder what the people will say

You know what you did never can be undone

You murder your sons just to build up the one

Your favorite child, what have you made him do?

You have made him destroy all I knew to be true

So plug your ears and hide from attack

Your sputtering blade ignited into my back

You think you’re some iconoclast destroying my shrine

But I’ll keep the things that will always be mine

She gave you her dowry, you threw it away

Her father knew best, I don’t care what you say

You see all she is and you strip it away

Because you wonder what the people will say

She gave you her dowry, you threw it away

Her father knew best, I don’t care what you say

You see all she is and you strip it away

Because you wonder what the people will say

Plug your ears and hide from attack

Your sputtering blade ignited into my back

You think you’re some iconoclast destroying my shrine

But I’ll keep the things that will always be mine
