Unique Outerspace Environments

Hey guys,
I just watched GotG 2 and was enamoured by how cool and unique(?) the ideas were. Like the Quantum Asteroid Field where the asteroids would phase in and out of reality and the different beings (gold bois) and planets.

I was trying to think of similarly awesome ideas for my book but alas, my creativity has grinded to a halt. So, I come to you to ask, what are your awesome, creative ideas for special outer space environments?

I'd look towards a lot of the old 80's cartoons for that. From He-Man and Transformers and their spin offs and copiers and such. Most of them aren't even very sphere like. Hells, go earlier and look into Silver Age comics and the like. You should be able to find plenty of planets of strangeness.

I always thought a planet or section of space where photons and mass had a more acute effect on gravity would be intetesting... like, everything weighs less at night and you might accidentally float out of bed without a well calibrated weighted blanket. Magnets are everywhere to keep personal posessions tethered in place. Non breakable materials are paramount. Full moons have more low gravity effects than new moons. Native life adapting to such conditions would be fascinating to write... cyclical low gravity. The midday sun would leave you feeling heavier.
Timekeeping could have developed by weights and measures... but weighing goods, like crop yields, would have to be recorded by exact time of day for legitimate transactions. 50 pumpkins at noon might weigh 240 lbs, but at midnight might only weigh 24 lbs.

Wow, so this would also affect a dark room right? Even under a tree or in the shade. Umbrellas could make something below weigh 10 times less! I guess the umbrella would just get heavy in that case though lol.

Artificial lighting would be everywhere in modern society, trying to mitigate the effects of dark-induced gravitational effects. You could even break it down by wavelength and spectrum of light, which point on the spectrum would best to balance gravity? City dwellers might be in for a BIG surprise, traveling to the countryside or natural environments where the dark is "lightest".

I'm a sucker for adding the word "living" or "sentient" in front of celestial objects or phenomena.
A living star, a sentient black hole, a living gamma ray pulse, and so forth.

I've also had an idea for "hyperspace leviathans" which would be creatures living in a different dimension that characters travel through during FTL travel.

I believe Andromeda had living stars (show, not the game) and one was even a character. And the great space whales and squids that ply the space lanes. Always good stuff.
