These are wonderful treasures. Only some like the big hats, but every hat has a story, to coin a phrase. Really, every aspect of every uniform has significance that would have been understood best by the individual and those in his company, but aspects of which would have been immediately recognized by many across France. At least in the 19thc. I love the detail. It's good to have the originals, but I wouldn't mind seeing them colorized (by experts), as the colors mattered, too.
