Star Trek Ramblings

Meema Tada! Made a thread so we can chat as much as we like.

Have you read any of the Star Trek books? I've only read one, Revenant [by Alex White]. It's Jadzia-centred, and goes into so much detail about the Trill culture [my favourite species, too]. I liked it a lot.

Here's my favourite episodes.

TOS:
The Corbonite Maneuver
The Squire of Gothos
Balance of Terror
Tomorrow is Yesterday
The Devil in The Dark
Amok Time
Mirror Mirror
City on the Edge of Forever
The Doomsday Machine
Journey to Babel
The Trouble With Tribbles

TNG: [a fairly predictable list]
Elementary, Dear Data
The Measure of A Man
Q Who
The Survivors
Deja Q
Yesterday's Enterprise
Sarek
The Best of Both Worlds
Family
The Drumhead
Darmok
Disaster
Cause and Effect
I Borg
The Inner Light
Tapestry
Timescape
Parallels
All Good Things

DS9:
Progress
Necessary Evil
The Wire
House of Quark
Past Tense
Explorers
Rejoined
Little Green Men
The Way of The Warrior
Far Beyond The Stars
Our Man Bashir
Trials and Tribble-ations

Voyager: [a very short list]
Before and After
Year of Hell
Concerning Flight
Timeless

He did...

But thats not Star Trek. In Star Trek, it always works out. Han would not fit in.
I Know I was being a goof (still baffles me that folks still argue about that)
I know very little about Star Trek. I have seen a few of the memes and I think one of the newer movies.

Okay, to the TOS episodes add Space Seed and A Piece of the Action, and we're good. Although I do have a soft spot for Who Mourns for Adonis? I'm not sure why.

To the NG episodes I'd add The Offspring - what a tearjerker! And I absolutely agree with your DS9 episode picks. I was never much for Voyager, although I do love Kate Mulgrew.

In that case...No he didn't. The new content is just fixing the bad parts of the original. Greedo shot first.
Yes, Greedo DID shoot first!

Oh, and as for books - try Spock's World and the novelization of Wrath of Khan. Those are good places to start.

Nope, but I've read a lot of Star Wars ones, way back when before Disney showed up and killed it.

A Piece of the Action is fun. I love made-up games with nonsense rules.

The Offspring is great, but it makes me too sad, so I've only re-watched it a couple times. Likewise, I've only seen Chain of Command once, and I never want to watch it again.

Joking aside, I hear a lot a good stuff about Star Trek
But I never find the time (or a place, since I mostly watch shows online) to sit down and watch it.

It's one of those shows (Like Pokemon. I'd love to be able to watch all seasons of pokemon start to finish without raising the flag.) Where I wish there was a website dedicated to streaming the entire series. Can't exist for every show but still.

Slightly off topic but same with Dr Who, hear nothing but praise, but if I wanna watch the really old stuff, good luck.

If you ever do have the time [no pun intended] for Doctor Who, I'd suggest starting with the revived series, which started with Christopher Eccelston as the 9th Doctor. 10 seasons of 12-14 episodes is far easier than the classic series' 26 seasons of multi-part episodes.

Disney has become the kiss of death for franchises, hasn't it? I've heard rumors they're retconning everything between Endgame and Doomsday.

C'mon, now, don't be hatin' on Tom Baker.

I do believe you can watch the classic Dr. Who episodes on BritBox.

I've actually had game nights where we tried to play Fizzbin. Almost always end up playing Cards Against Humanity, though.
