Language and swearing in posted pieces.

Good morning, and my apologies if this question has already been asked. I did search the forum, but couldn't find any results that answered my question.

Having read the rules on prohibited behaviour, I noticed that swearing is included. My question is: does this apply only to our discussions and forum replies? Or does this also apply to any work we may post on the site? If it does, is it sufficient to censor the words, or should we edit the swearing out/post on another forum?

Typically, swearing is discouraged on the forums.

In stories, there is more freedom, but the site does not really have a great tool to post up stories. If you post things in the story showcase, or critique request, they are not open to the public, and some will look at them. I dont think I've seen anyone balk at profanity, but then, I dont think anyone posts it gratuitously.

IMO, you would be fine unless its like every other word.

Pretty much this I think. If you're unsure, then you can always check with a mod before posting. And you can always add a content warning at the top of the post (though this isn't a way to get around the forum rules of course, just to let readers know what they get into).

Thanks both. If I get around to posting anything I'll make sure to follow your advice. Really appreciate the advice both of you.
