Hey guys. Thanks for starting a thread about little ol' me. :)
I found this post while Googling myself. (Yeah, judge me. Whatever.)
Sorry I haven't been around in the past few years. This self-publishing journey has kept me pretty busy, and I haven't had a whole lot of time to lurk around on...
Hello fellow scribes.
I've recently had a potentially exciting development. I got an email last week from someone in Hollywood who really enjoyed my first novel, Critical Failures, and expressed interest in working together with me to adapt it for the screen.
While she works for a...
I've written seven stand-alone short stories to promote my novels so far, and one of the challenges I have is finding fresh new ways to orient the reader with what's going on. In the beginning pages of each book, I need to let the reader know that these are four guys from "the real world"...
Thanks, BWFoster78! You know there's a sequel out now. :)
If my work is too vulgar for your tastes (it's certainly not for everyone), I'd recommend the Doomsayer Series by Steve Wetherell. Unlike my books, it's comic fantasy that you'd let your kids read. The first book is called The Last...
I use both Facebook and Twitter.
I enjoy my Facebook author page. I post links to my good reviews there, and occasionally I'll post a bad review if its really scathing. It's nice to see how many of my fans will either make comments about it, or go click the 'I-did-not-find-this-helpful' button...
I'm absolutely the opposite. As soon as my characters entered the world they did, I was making up everything as I went along. It's like a computer strategy game where the world is blacked out except for the parts you've already explored. I felt like writing a story set in a swamp. Guess what...
I was going to bring up Archie Bunker, but you guys beat me to it. But maybe I can add something new with examples from my own work.
They are modern thirty-somethings for the most part, and grew up in the southern United States. They know racism is wrong, but it's so deeply ingrained in the...
hey guys. thank you for all the responses. i made this same post on another forum as well, and after reading the responses from there and here, i've decided to hold off on this sort of thing until i better understand the publishing industry.
so thanks for saving me a few bucks (and maybe a bit...
here's the situation... i recently got around to getting the paperback version of my novel, Critical Failures, made through createspace. i ordered a copy for myself, and i'm very happy with it.
i paid for the extended distribution, but i'm still waiting for it to even get up on amazon.
now...
i'm going to finish my first sequel to Critical Failures first. then i'm thinking i'll probably write three more short stories. i'll keep them available separately because they are what i put on KDP select for the free promo days, but once i have six of them, i was thinking about also bundling...
i hope i censored that enough. this is my latest short story in the 'caverns and creatures' series. it weighs in a bit longer than the other two, at around 10k words. like the others, it was written so that you don't have to have read the novel, Critical Failures, in order to enjoy it, but...
Do any of you guys (gals) have your books on any Listopia lists? Have you found it to be helpful in getting some exposure? Someone voted for a couple of my stories in a few different categories a while back. That's how I first found out about it. So naturally, I went and voted for my own books...
