There will always be someone who finds something "childish", whether that thing actually is, is another matter.

AurorLot of adults find Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles 'childish' but let's be real, it's probably the ones that didn't grow up watching it.There will always be someone who finds something "childish", whether that thing actually is, is another matter.

IstarHow old do you think these shows are? People who grew up with Ninja Turtles are in the 60's now.
AurorI was first exposed to the turtles through the live action films after they had gone out of theater for a few years. How old do you think these shows are? People who grew up with Ninja Turtles are in the 60's now.

Auror[gasp] enjoying disney as an adult?? how horrid! /jokeNot at all! As an adult, you can definitely enjoy animations and games, dare I say cartoons and Disney too, without it meaning you’re immature. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying things that bring you joy, regardless of your age. I hate the idea that as adults we have to give up everything we enjoyed because it's seen as childish
InklingI completely agree!! It's so enjoyable to endulge in you shows you actually enjoy without having to explain yourself![gasp] enjoying disney as an adult?? how horrid! /joke
Jokes aside I do like me some Disney, heck Loony Toons / Tom and Jerry etc too. (I have not touched 'modern' T&J though. it's so sanitized)
I'd say cartoons and such are fine as long as you're willing to admit you're not the target audience. [phinias and ferb guilty pleasure intensifies]
I'll also say that stuff intended for adults (Breaking Bad, Most Adult Swim shows that weren't anime etc) aren't really my vibe. I hear Rick and Morty is Peak but I feel like I've missed that boat. Futurama I could take a peek at but I'm wary about it lol I wouldn't mind a show intended for adults that was less 'adult' humor and more just a banger show that adults can enjoy.
I will admit that I'm a huge story guy, give me a banger story with fun characters (see my signature) and I'll be hooked regardless of if your show/game is rated for children or adults. Heck, manage to create something equally intriguing for both age groups (Bridge to Terabithia and Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe for example ) and I'll hug you lol
TroubadourI was adult when first seen and it was... shocking in a good way... Cried a lot, unexpected... If you know you know and if not it would spoil to explain...Bridge to Terabithia
AurorMy beef with adult shows, is that so often (particularly the actual comedy ones) the humor is there for shock value and stupid humor that's more childish than the non adult shows half of the time. Might be a hot take but Futurama is at it's best when it's being a TV show and not 'oh look at how mature our humor is' same with Space Ghost and other similar shows. Please can we get some 'adult' shows that aren't making 'adult' jokes every five minutes? lolI completely agree!! It's so enjoyable to endulge in you shows you actually enjoy without having to explain yourself!
I went into the movie fully blind (not having read the book) honestly, one of the best 'twist' endings I have seen, despite said twist being really sad. Came out of nowhere and I didn't see it coming from a mile away like I could in old yeller.I was adult when first seen and it was... shocking in a good way... Cried a lot, unexpected... If you know you know and if not it would spoil to explain...

IstarYou could always watch Monty Python's Flying CircusPlease can we get some 'adult' shows that aren't making 'adult' jokes every five minutes? lol
AurorI mean yes I have seen that, I quite like it. I more mean like whenever we get a show like Space Ghost / Family guy etc, the humor is all shock value cause we can / are allowed too you know? You could always watch Monty Python's Flying Circus
TroubadourYou should find, as you pass through life, you do outgrow things and move on from them. After all, you are not put on this earth to see if you can complete the most video games. I cant speak to how your parents spend their time, but I can say, they are in a better position to know things than you likely are.
Video games are great entertainment, but they do take a lot of time, time you spend not doing other things. If you dont leave the chair, its gonna be hard to get on with other things that are also important in life. When you are your parents age, if you still want to play video games, maybe you can come back and answer.
I leave you with a quote.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
TroubadourYGO is kind of like ATLA, it's REALLY good, in spite of being 'made for kids' much less exclusively existing to promote a product. (Like the Pokemon anime, which I also like quite a bit) There are moments in ATLA that I wouldn't see in a more modern 'kids' show and to a point YGO too. ATLA just has really good characters that bounce off of eachother well. Which is all I ask for really. The Dragon Prince was King for that. Storm Hawks too if you haven't seen that one.
I mean I say that, but I haven't watched an anime (That I have not seen) in a few years. Recently re watched One Piece (which, that took a while) and enjoyed it. Lot of good bits I clearly forgot about and some of them that I wish I had forgotten lol I can of course go back and watch DB/DBZ Yu Yu Hakusho etc, but I've seen those a few times lol
I'm not sure I'd count 're' watching a show as watching new content. Last new thing I checked out (While not anime) was Miraculous Ladybug, which is pretty solid but the MC becomes a bit of a creep/stalker later. (I mean she IS a hyper fixated tweenager, but that doesn't excuse some of what she gets away with lol Even the fanbase says 'yeah maybe she's a liiiiitle bit obsessed' lol)
K Pop Demon Hunters is next on my list, everyone who likes that show says it's amazing heh.

AurorThat last bit knocks out most Shounen anime lolI love animation and anime. Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein, Lower Decks, Invincible, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, X-Men, Gargoyles, Goblin Slayer, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Demon Slayer, and many more. The only anime I don't like are the ones where everyone seems to be Middle School aged or the main hero is so good he is cocky as all get out.
That's what I do, I come for the story, stay for the pretty animation. But for the most part I really enjoy good animation. And I'm pretty old.
