Well...you are having better luck than me, but you have a wider variety of books seeking feedback. I have just the one. It may change.

My cover artist says they are near complete, and my editor says he is pushing to have something by this weekend. I am waiting on both.
I hope Book 2 is released soon. No promises, but I might attempt a review outside of Authentic/Bookroar.

I hope to release an unrelated pair of novellas in the next six weeks or so, with another doorstopper around Halloween/Thanksgiving.

While admittedly, I have not putting the effort for Bookroar, I am seeing a bit of crossover between the two. The same books are showing up both on Bookroar and on Authentic. I have 9 reviews from Authentic and 1 from Bookroar. I feel as if I am playing in a pool that has already decided if they are interested in my book or not. And so, I feel I will need that group to change a bit. I need the current group to get what it can get, and move one, and another group of fish to show up that is eager for points before mine will be selected for another nine times. I have 18 reviews on Amazon, and so, I am pretty close to my goal of 25. I have 11 reviews on foreign markets. Amazon.AU and Amacon.EU both show the same 11. I wonder if I complain if I can get amazon to show thoss extra reviews in Amazon,US as well.

I do have my reviews group, which could start at any minute, so I should get up to 22 very shortly.

I have 'Top reviews from the United States,' and then 'Top reviews from other countries.'

The review page for 'Complete Collection.' Most of these are on the main page for the book.

I'm just being impatient. I want to hit 25 written reviews. This weekend, I should get the edits for book 2. That will keep me busy for a short while :)

Hey all,

Review Group on Goodreads needs just one more.

Review Group 383 - Out of this world

Out of this world means Fantasy or SciFi as the organizers have it set up.

If you have a book out and need reviews (and you've not reviewed those already in the group before...), you may wish to jump in.

The way it work is, you review four books, and four people review you. So...it's a useful tool if you have the bandwidth. Specially if you are a quick reader (which I am not :( )

Well, all of the books I had left on Authentic and Bookroar are now out for review.

As yet, though, nothing in those sites' libraries is grabbing me...

Yeah...it took a long while. I am just waiting for the official seal before I go get the books.

Its been so long, someone might have to go around and kick some of them back awake.

My book also lingers on Authentic. Not much of the target audience there, I guess.

The Goodreads Review Groups simply stopped late last year. After the second month, I found Authentic. By the time they started up again, I had over a dozen reviews from Authentic.

That said, there does seem to be a fairly low ceiling for how many reviews a single book can receive on Authentic, and probably Bookroar as well, owing to the size of those communities.

I think its just you have to wait for the pool of reviews to change...

Making some assumption, suppose those using Authentic want 25 reviews. So they come to the site with a lot of energy, reviews some easy stuff and pop their book up. Well, initially the get a hit, someone takes it, and they get a review, and woohoo...things are great. The lather, rinse, repeat...get another review...they do this over and over, but then it all stops. Why?

Because the pool of people who want 25 reviews only has so many interested in your book. They read the books the needed to in order to post their books up, so they dont need points anymore. Over time, this group will slowly migrate and morph into a whole new batch of virgin readers, but it will take a long wile for that to happen. You have already saturated, and the current crop does not need to read you to get points to post...You have to wait them out.

Sadly, I see some of the same books up at Bookroar as well as Authentic. If all these authors are scouring the web for more places like the first, that same group will pervade all of them. So mixing it up will have limited results as well.

Ideally, you need to drop your book fresh into hungry people who have never read it before and need points.

Authentic and bookroar only have a limited pool of interested readers. Now we are waiting for the new ones to pop in with zero credits and hoping they like fantasy or mystery ;)

Its okay... 25 reviews should be enough to have reader validation. I would think advertising after that. But what do I know. I am following you :)

Maybe we can all do what Malik did...

As I understand it, Malik basically got lucky. (His swordplay demo at a Con attracted the crowd's attention, so he jumped on it.)

That said, between Authentic and Booroar, I received 13 (soon to be 15) reviews for 'Labyrinth,' ten (soon to be 11) for the 'Complete Collection,' and eight for 'Heat.' Most of the reviews for the rest came via Goodreads.

While I would like 25 reviews for 'Labyrinth' and the 'Complete Collection,' my current goals are more modest. The better promo sites - the ones that produce results without costing an arm and a leg - want five good reviews for newer books and at least 0-20 for more established ones.

Funny but after our friend Josh was in here complaining about the system that favors amazon and not authors, I get this in my facebook feed:

Books.by

I dont know that I trust a squirrely site, but it a site trying to push Amazon out of the way and allow you to publish from your own private book store (only it is kind of there bookstore).

Josh, if you are out there, buddy!

I seem to remember seeing that.

Back in the day, legit 'name' authors did appear on Facebook now and again. Unlike the scammers, they focused on two things:

1 - backlog (lots of books)

2 - a website that enabled them to sell their books directly. (Because they were big enough that people would search them out.)

Yes, the one above is a subscription service. Its not much, but you need to sell more than I do to make it pay off.

Back to book reviewing at Authentic.

I see that you splurged for the paperback copies for Goodreads 383 instead of the Kindle route. That was kind of you! A couple of the other people in your lineup are familiar to me.

I hate reading off a screen and I dont even own a kindle.

With Book 2 coming out and 25 reviews for book 1, which is a line I should cross in a short time. And I also went ahead enter literary titan to see if I could get an award...and it looks like I will be getting a gold award, which is their highest...I'm gonna start advertising and see how that goes.

I gonna have to get some changes to book 1's cover. Some reader reviews and the gold badge.

Hope it pays off.

I think Authentic may be dead to me for a little while. Seems all the fish who want to bite have already bitten. Been many weeks since I've been picked up there.

However, I should have 25 reviews in the bag with the current reading round and some other I am told are processing. I'll just wait till I see them. Would be nice to break over 20.
