Color Me Annoyed

I cant see your attachment, but what you describe sounds like you have lost the red, or blue color. Green is the default, and has all the frame rate stuff in it, so if you lose green, you generally, dont get a picture.

Most likely cables, but maybe the monitor. Do you have more than one and as it green on both?

If you have a monitor with some bells and whistles, or a vid card with its own software, you might be able to adjust color with their tools, though I dont know why they would get unset.

Sorry its snot colored ;)

IT here, have you tried turning it on/off again /silly

Joking aside I'm having similar tech problems, but for my speakers every DIY fix doesn't work.

Conspicuously it goes away entirely when my parents aren't using their TV/Their devices.

Another vote for cables. Back in the CRT days I encountered this when people would shove those huge monitors as far back on their desktop as they could, pinching the cable against the wall. They were astounded when a cable jiggle and scooting the monitor forward fixed it. Ah, the 1980s....

If it were cables, my life would be good. I swapped them around and the disfunction followed the monitor and cared nothing for what cables were what. But, it's a good suggestion. Always nice when it's something simple.

Are they connected via Bluetooth or 2.4gh or cables? Bluetooth is a pain in the ass with line of sight issues, plus limits on how many devices it can carry... which makes me think you're hooked up via Bluetooth.

I vote for simply throwing this monitor out the window and getting a new one. Don't know how old it is of course, but sometimes they just kill themselves.

That, or accept life and go back to the 80's monochrome green on black monitor look...

Glad you liked my joke (I like dad jokes and this one seemed appropriate at the moment lol)
As for the speaker issue, my speakers are wired, I don't know what kind of cables they came with. They're a pair of Bose speakers I've had for about 6+ years (though audiophiles say the age should be irrelevant since the 3.5MM jack hasn't changed much) I eventually gave up trying to resolve the issue on my pc's built in sound card (It may or may not be defective) and ran my speakers through my monitor instead. If it's possible the speakers can output from 12 to 32 Bit and about 8 different varieties of Hertz for each volume.

Pros: Problem seems to have gone away entirely even while my parents are using their speakers/devices. (all of which are either bluetooth or wireless)
Cons: The speaker sound is a bit quieter in DB's factor (limited to 24 bit instead of 32 bit) but as an aside the sound is much clearer/crisper with a slight cost of the base not being as good.

I hope your screen issue gets fixed soon, if you end up needing repairing or replacing, I'd advise against Geek Squad. Part of it is overpriced for what they do. But they're also focused on getting in as many customers in a day as they can. I'm sure it's not their technicians fault (Most of them that I've talked to seem to know their stuff) It seems like they're pressured to get 'jobs' done as "efficiently" as possible. The ACTUAL geek squad is focused on turnaround, not solving tech issues. Which probably sucks for the workers who actually love the job.

Nobody gets to touch my computers but me... or my wife when I get stuck. lol I do hardware, she does the software issues. Last time I went to anyone else was when we thought my graphics card was faulty, as we'd only had this computer for a few weeks. Trip to California and back, only thing that changed was I now had no cool dragon sticker on my graphics card.

A monitor is all I have. PC inside. However I have sorta had similar troubles way back in the day. A green crash screen, or blue, or whatever.

The worst, is cracks in the screen. You get lines of code that will not get through, you have a blinking crosshair with a glitch attached. The first thing I did back in the day was call the technician, but more sums were sunk into the complete rehash, of a new computer system, systematically, with the replacing of everything but the casing, then anything else.

Good fun, but when your computer over heats, or the disc gets stuck in the burner, you gonna have to come around asking questions about how you burned out this device this time or this new device, at some point.

The information is never around on the web to solve the problems, and when the screen is cracked, then you get this surge of power or whatever that breaks it, or disconnects it from the net entirely. Screw the calculator, you gotta go to the loo for your mathematics?

I don't have anything on my PC worth 'protecting' from people seeing (ok, my deviant art favorites is a strong maybe, but even then A: not ashamed cause it's all fiction anyway and B: nowhere near as bad as it could be from someone with similar interests) but I'd prefer my parents didn't use my PC like they own it.

I don't go in their office and use their laptop while they're out of the house/asleep so I'd expect the same courtesy (never mind all three of us are adults now) from them.

Every time I dare to confront them about it they go 'it's our house so what does it matter'
They have their own perfectly capable laptop to use, and it's not like using it would wake up one or the other parent because it's a room and a few walls away from their bedroom.
