I love that the soldiers are in modern military gear--as befits the story--but the rest of it has that classic 70's-80's Michael Whelan feel. The landscape could be from an Asimov magazine 40-50 years ago. She really nailed it.

Totally agree! The blend of modern military gear with that classic retro sci-fi vibe is spot-on. It’s like a perfect homage to the golden age of sci-fi art, feels fresh yet nostalgic.

The only thing that stands out to me is the S's in Rising Shadow. It's probably just how this font is, but they look too big somehow.
