Heaven is Falling

(No, this has nothing to do with the song)

So I had a dream that took place in a semi-apocalyptic world where the shit hit the fan when meteors began falling from the sky. Below are the 3 'scenes' I remember happening:

The initial disaster and scene 1: The sky was completely covered in dark clouds, but patches of it began glowing yellow. Suddenly, meteors fell from those patches and rained down on the people below. These meteors didn't exceed the size of a football, but they caused severe damage. They also didn't form craters upon impact, but rather caused large spikes to jut out from the ground in a wide radius around the meteor, impaling anyone within range.
I was outside when this happened, and was among the people running away from the meteors—I somehow survived.

Aftermath: By now, the meteors that were falling everywhere stopped, and there was obviously a very high death toll. It also seemed like the meteors had grown smarter, targeting specific people (How'd they decide the people? That's a blank my awake self is yet to fill) and sending several meteors at a time towards where they were. The asteroids did stop after a few failed attempts, or if the person is successfully hit.
Scene 2: A group of people were seeking refuge in the mosque near my home, for whatever reason, and I was there, too... for whatever reason. A person who looked suspiciously like Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury hooked up a device to another person, and a screen on the device began displaying a percentage. Nick's doppelganger went on to explain that the moment the percentage increased, meteors would be sent to target that person. And lo and behold, the percentage on the display increased, as if on cue. Everyone got away from that person and they began running for the mosque's exit. The first meteor crashed through the roof and made the telltale AoE of spikes, but the person managed to escape them. Unfortunately, they were hit by the second one once they got outside and were impaled.
Forgotten scene: I vaguely remember there being a scene between Scenes 2 and 3, but I have no recollection of it whatsoever.
Scene 3: Turns out the building I live in has a hidden basement, and a family decided to take refuge there since there was a whole building above their heads protecting them from the accursed meteors. I don't remember much from this except that the house had a LOT of stuff in it, and that the family was doing quite well for themselves.
So yeah, this is the dream I had. I'd like to hear your opinions, even though you can't really critique a dream.

Clearly the god or gods of your choice want you to write a horror story. Do it now, before he/they get angry, and stuff really does start raining down on you.

Maybe you didn't know who the meteors were targeting, and that's part of what made it scary. Maybe it felt random, but one too many coincidences (or last-minute swerves to hit someone who tried to dodge) to really make much sense. also, yes, if you feel this calling to you, write a story :D

Sounds like the aliens have decided to attack and we are way behind in defending or stepping up to the problem. I think this has to play out as an apocalypse story, and only after so few are left as survivors would the baddies lay off enough to let us figure out a plan. Otherwise, I'd stay in the mosque and pray. We're gonna need a little divine help in this.

It’s definitely scary, but also super creative. Like your brain was directing its own apocalypse thriller.

Well that certainly quite a disaster movie. Those extraterrestrial beings or should I say astroids that comes out of nowhere. And they attack people using unknown criteria. And you need to survive.
Their goal- unknown.
Their means- extermination of certain people.

Well why not make those certain people, non humans that have infiltrated earth and are using human identity.

Starship Troopers used that (sort of); by sending asteroids deliberately to smash into Earth.

If it were me; I would make the "antagonist" a goodly alien scientist who has been studying Earth, and after watching the human commit all manner of brutality to each other, decided to target the worst offenders under the guise of a "random act of god".

Perhaps as part of the plot, I would have a character find pieces of the thrusters or something... a clue that it's not an act of the almighty, or at least not entirely.

Sounds Biblical. Like God was showing you the end of this world and the fate of those who chose to follow the beast. The family hidden are an example of those who will profit off the system and hide their possessions thinking they will be forever safe, but here comes the rain. Sodom and Gomorrah the meteors rained down on the people, got every last one of them. So you could have seen in Revelations what it means when "the stars fell from heaven...". And the people being hunted by the meteors are those who fully integrated into the beast system. And the scene you don't remember is so no one can prepare for it. You were shown it to give forth tension of the unknown.

Because by the time this becomes reality most Christians will be dead, executed for their faith and their resistance, and the few who remain will be in hiding. The rest of the people will be terrified, looking for answers and will find none because the ones who knew, Christians, are all long dead. Jesus has the answers and He is the only way to survive this.

The bible did have a few sequels, though.
