As I lie here, killing some time
My name is Peat, but that you knew
And I'm new here (you knew that too)
I like many things; cider and whiskey,
Heavy Metal music, sports that are risky,
Bad jokes, exercise, meat, redheads and cats
But I'm not here to talk about any of that.
I've come to talk about fantastic stories,
the type caught 'tween myth and history.
Those featuring dragons and mighty mages
and wondrous things to keep us turning pages,
and all humanity's hopes, fears and dreams,
their selfless courage and wicked schemes,
for fantasy is not just a means of escape
but a way to explore mental landscapes.
That's why I love it, and have come to youse
to learn and to share and occasionally amuse,
and in the process, become a better writer
(it's that or try to become a bullfighter).
Anyway, I should stop boring my hosts
and go and do something useful like post,
