Is there anyone I can talk to who is of Chinese and Japanese background?

It's about certain events in my story that reveal backstories of characters from the 9th century of Japan and China. And also about the martial arts in the present.

Also anyone have any understanding of the Ainu culture?

I've learned quite a lot about Chinese history, but mostly a bit earlier. You are talking about the late Tang dynasty.

I recommend the "China History Podcast", if you're into listening to podcasts. Teacup Media There are historical podcasts, by dynasty, and also ones about particular subject: ruler, tea, silk, and poets . Poetry was a huge thing in the Tang dynasty.

Having said all that, I don't have a Chinese background. I have had a bit of help from some personal friends in Shanghai.
