James S.A. Corey is a pen name used by two authors - Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. I've just finished the second in this series, and I have to say these are very good, very entertaining books. I liked the first one a lot, and I thought the second was even better. Also, the second has two very strong, well-developed female viewpoint characters who are integral to the story.

There is a lot of action, good characterization, mysterious aliens, and high stakes. Has anyone else read these? I'm having as much fun with these as any SF novels I can remember in a while.

I have read both of these tomes, though I prefer the first.

Worth noting - Ty Frank was one of George RR Martin's personal assistants - and Martin gave the pair a bit of a boost in the publicity department (and maybe the publishing end as well).

I liked the contrast between the two MC's in the first book; the one open, straightforward, and naïve; the other secretive and world weary.

Worth noting - Book III 'Cibola Burn' is out.
