Predator animal humanoids meat alternatives

So I have a WIP in which there is a white reticulated python human hybrid. In this world humans became animal hybrids a few centuries ago. You have two cities that are neighbors one allows predatory hybrids to feed on prey hybrids providing it is done within the natural balances of the ecosystem (no over hunting etc). The other still clings to humanity, the predators who live hear eat vegetarian foods such as eggs, and (animal, not animal human mixed) meat to survive they also are made to take a pill which suppresses their carnivorous side. The snake humanoid is considered as royalty in the first city as his family are "apexes" and thus considered "the best" and he is very wealthy as well by the standards of the other city. He was raised in the first city and was raised to think nothing of killing and eating other human animal hybrids. He is gifted a bird of paradise hybrid who he keeps alive for her songs, eventually she challenges him on he predatory ways trying to convince him to have a change of heart. He slowly falls in love with the bird, one day though his sister visits and when he declines to hunt a rabbit hybrid because he does not want the song bird to see a hunt the sister attacks and kills the songbird resulting in a fight between the two as the brother tries to "talk sense into him. Because carnivores eat prey" when he won't eat the songbird or the rabbit. The sister being bigger (as female snakes are much stronger and bigger than males) is able to chokehold the young the is stabbed with a knife in the face resulting in a dead eye and an nasty scar. The sister leaves before anything gets worse. The snake prince has a change of heart and offers the second city a lot of money to make his territory a sort of gate between the two cities. He swears off hybrid meat entirely and survives off meat alternatives while working for the second cities version of police while there he meets a dove hybrid who he befriends. My question what would good meat alternatives be? Huge eggs?

If the hybrids are the result of science then there's been huge strides in cloned meat in real life. Could go with that.

This is sort of a parallel to your story line, but what about insects? Large tasty insects like beetles and their grubs? They could be the sort of insects who lived in the Parmian or Carboniferous era- there was a dragonfly-like creature, Meganeuropsis for instance, with a 75cm wingspan. The advantage is you get predation , which would satisfy the hunting instinct yet without the ethical problem of eating fellow creatures, if I've understood your premise correctly.

True. They actually have hunting simulations to fix the hunting instincts. The mc works with the seconds towns police force in antipredation so he is able to "hunt" "violent" predators who are caught for crimes of hunting others with intent to kill and devour.
