Hi!
I have recently listened to writing podcasts and I am surprised at how much they talk about scenes and how important it is thar each scene has a purpose, that there are consequences, that there is a variety in the structure of the scenes.... I don't think about scenes at all when I write. And I don't get what a scene is. I though a scene was something physical, like, when the characters are at this place doing stuff, that is one scene. When they move on to somewhere else, that is another scene. But I hear people talk about scenes at much smaller parts of the story. Like, there would be severel scenes in the part that I think is a scene, according to them. And I don't get how I should decide where a scene srtart and end. What is a scene? I'm getting all existential here. Any input, you wise writers?
How can I learn what a scene is, and decide whether I am good at scenes or not? What do I need to learn?
