Similar 'tales' to King Midas?

I am in need of some purely fictional Tales similar in function/myth to King Midas.

One of them I know of is the one King. He hired some 'good Tailors' and they told him they said they were making him some 'invisible clothes' and he thought 'this is awesome' and well, yeah, that ended well. (I don't know the whole story but I know the morals and the general idea)

Stuff like that, to be clear I'm looking for ones that could be used as a 'wish gone wrong' kind of event in a version of earth where these tales actually happened.

I thought of Father/Mother, Sister/Brother as a kind of sitcom, Radiation Scrubber; as a computer game, and Duck-Hunting as a sort of drama. There are plenty of Irish stories you might like, they all have chilling twists, that weave from imaginary druids.

That's the one (I would go with emperors new groove, which is probably a parody of that, but...Disney lawyers) yep.

Aesop's Fables sounds like a good one to investigate (I thiiiink I know what that term means)

Would Heinsel and Grettel count ? (Not the 'sanitized' version but the original) Similar sort of cautionary tale but a fair bit darker.

I don't think any of the other 'grim dark' fables (at least not the ones in a similar vein like Little Red Riding Hood) would count for what I'm looking for.

Oo, I hadn't thought about dipping into other countries stories like this. I know Irish has a lot of interesting stuff, but do any of them involve wishing for something? (Or something that could be attributed to that)

Could go with Brave, but again, the forbidden mouse is always watching.

All I remember is I was obsessed with fairies at a young age and continued to ask for more Irish fairytales as a child from my mother to kept getting at them.
