You would think they would be happy to share their passion with anyone they could rope into listening, especially if the question where phrased in a relatively easy ball-park-answer-is-okay manner. I am not be getting what you mean by got in trouble by Physics with a capital P. But, really are you going to let something like that whatever that is stop you? Find a new forum or whatever. Go. Fight. Win. Heck I take rather perverse pleasure in proving people who tell me "you can't do X" wrong. Does not always work that way, but is sweat when it does.
