Want to track your weekly progress with me?

Hi folks, I thought maybe anyone who wants to participate in the 50,000 words in November challenge but separate from the NaNoWriMo organization could join this thread and do weekly updates of their progress throughout the month of November. The goal will be to update every Saturday through to the 30th. If there's already a thread like this, let me know and I will delete and join the other thread. You can also join a leaderboard I've created specifically for the purpose on TrackBear. Activity on the leaderboard will start November 1st. Note that I'm using TrackBear for the first time, so if someone has more experience or has already set up a leaderboard, please offer a join code and I'll happily join! Here's the join code for anyone that wants to join the one I set up: 4850558d-105c-4e7b-86e6-e98edffe0a20 You use it by first setting up a TrackBear account (it's free), going to Leaderboards on your sidebar, and clicking the 'Use Join Code' button.

If you'd like to just track your weekly progress in this thread, please start now by sharing the title of your work (if you've already figured it out or once you do), the genre if known, a short back-of-book blurb if you have it, the status so far (you've already started working and you're planning to continue it during November or you have an outline or you haven't started yet), and how/if you'll be sharing your story once the event is over. If there's a better way to do this, also feel free to let me know!

I'll start.

  1. Title - Ashbranded
  2. Fantasy
  3. Blurb - In the volcanic city of Ashwind Cairn, magic sustains daily life while also coming at a high cost. For Dare, an ashbinder with a rare connection to the ash that fills their world, that cost could be his very soul. When he’s chosen to succeed the ruthless High Volcaryn, Dare is thrust into a deadly game of politics and power that could burn away everything he holds dear.
  4. Status - Outlined and planned but not a single word written yet
  5. Sharing - Ashbranded will be shared on the website where I'm writing and sharing my current novel.

  1. Title - Cardinality
  2. Grimdark Fantasy
  3. Blurb - Cardinality explores the intricate layers of human consciousness through interconnected realms. The Echo houses suppressed traits, while The Maw is a chaotic plane of unchecked primordial beings born from suppressed emotions. The Threshold serves as a liminal space for confrontation and integration, leading to The Fold, a sanctuary for transformation. Finally, The Shell reflects earthly existence, revealing the impact of inner conflicts on society. This novel explores many dark aspects of one's soul: the fragmentation that happens, as well as the daunting reintegration of said fragments.
  4. Status - Outlined.
  5. Sharing - Cardinality is shared on my blog, and various other places.

1. Title - Azalie's fire
2. Present-day YA fantasy
3. After getting kicked from high school, Cal leaves town to help out at his long-estranged father's pizza shed as delivery guy. One night, he rings at the door of a girl living out deep the forest and by chance helps her escape from the agents of a secret witching cult. The moment he meets her is when the inexplicable experiences that uprooted his old life will finally start to make sense. Together, the two will navigate a world of century-old secrets to prevent the fulfillment of an earth-shattering curse cast by the most power witch that ever lived.
4. I'm 50k words in, and hope to get to 60k this month. So my goal is ten thousand, hope that's allowed :)
5. Well it's in Dutch and I aim to publish it, so no for now.

Wha, I've seen you talk about your project in other threads and always thought the setting really striking. Great to now see your blurb :D

Sounds like a great story! I love the title as well, and I hope you eventually get it published! Sure, regardless of word count, this thread is just to track weekly progress together. Happy to have you!

Wow, that is insanely intriguing. Sounds like a very hard project to speed-write, or is that just me? Good luck!

Blurb: Tbc

... We'll be waiting! ^.^

I dont mind posting updates (I kind of do that already), but I wont be trying to reach 50K...or rather, I will, but I will remain satisfied with whatever I reach.

Since I do about 700 a day, I expect in 30 days, I will get to 21K...I'll shoot for more than that.

This thread is awesome! Thanks for making it!

Sharing: Not sure yet. Definitely not sharing anything until my second draft is finished. My first draft is going to be messy!

Yay, glad to have you along Avery! Your blurb sounds really interesting. I have to admit I haven't read any grimdark fantasy, but I may have to start now. I always like a good story covering a descent into villainy.

1) Title: "Invented Universe Lore"

So where are we doing this?

Day 1: 807

Title: Warriors of the Light
Genre: Well, Fantasy, of course.
Blurb: Not written this yet. Generally, it is about everyone who is wrapped up in the fight against the darkness that is their world. And the cost of being a champion with an impossible task. This is book 4 of the series, and without the others, its would not make a lot of sense. But the MC is far away and wrestling with their own inner demons. Those left behind are struggling to survive, and trying to fight back against their foe. Underneath it all, this is the book about the bad guys. It explains them, their motivations and inner goals, whats really at stake, and what happens if they fail.
Status: 172K in.
Sharing: Not till its finished (see rule 3 in the siggy).
