Writing Books Is More Than Prose

Nimue, I'm simply trying to offer a different perspective. I was inspired by Mytho's thread and it got me wondering what story means to me and others. How we define it. My argument is: not by prose. If you love poetic prose, then that's what you like. But liking it or not isn't my point. I simply wanted to open discussion on the definition of story.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh ^^^^ I misunderstood too.

Ok, step back.

My definition of a story is simply "Character faces some sort of conflict."

My definition of a good story is "Character faces conflict and I feel something as a result."

My definition of a great story is "Character faces conflict and I feel something because it is beautifully written with masterful prose."

So no, prose is not crucial to story. But for me it elevates a good story to a great story.
