Need Help Testing my new Author Platform

Myth Weaver
Hi all,

I just finished creating my new author website at Author Brian W. Foster | Official site of speculative fiction writer Brian W. Foster, author of "Rise of the Mages"

(If you're wondering what happened to my old one, just post a request, and I'll tell you the story. Otherwise, I'll assume you'd find the information boring.)

Not much going on there at the moment as I'm still building it, but I do need help testing two functions:

1. Liking me on Facebook
2. Signing up for my mailing list

Both these functions should be easily findable at the top of the right column. If one of you wouldn't mind, it would help me greatly if you'd like me on FB and sign up for the list. Then, post about your experience. Did it work? Any issues?

Presumably, it will be pretty easy for you to unlike my page, and just let me know, and I can manually remove your email from the list. (Or feel free to stay connected if you'd prefer)

Thanks!

Brian

Hmm...

'Add widgets here?' :)

'Footer goes here?' :)

And most insulting of all (for me, anyhow)

'mail chimp?' (I am a USPS contractor. Good god, I have been replaced by a chimp?) :)

Did you read this part?

I've still got lots of work to do on it. I don't like the static page just being the advertisement for the novella. Still trying to figure out what I want the content to be.

Mainly I need help right now with the testing.

'mail chimp?' (I am a USPS contractor. Good god, I have been replaced by a chimp?)

Hey, they work for banana's. Depending on the exchange rate, they can be a bargain!

Mailchimp has a lot of functionality and is FREE until you reach 2000 subscribers. By the time I have that many subscribers, I shouldn't exactly be sweating $25/month or I'll really need to work on my conversion rate!

Mail chimp is a must for the budding author site if you ask me.

Couple of things. Maybe I am getting old but your pic looks a tad out of focus.

Also, and this might be personal taste, I think your bio is a tad too trivial. I think it is cool to tell people you are a Saints fan (the other black and gold team- the one that cheats ;-) ) but a little much to say you are in two fantasy football leagues. I also think you should put the engineering cred ahead of the season tickets.

Good start though.

My understanding is that the primary role of the author bio is to make the author appear "friendly." I have no idea how one is supposed to accomplish that.

I'll think about those suggestions, though.

I couldn't discern any blurriness in the pic.
