Very intense Dream and Story idea! =)

Hello everyone here in the Dreamscape.

I wish that it would be possible for me to participate in this Forum more often, but sadly I continue to experience very weird and twisted dreams almost every night. Most of those dreams are far too twisted to be discussed here, so I have been very absent.

However, the other night I had a pleasant and very powerful dream!

In my dream, I was in a personal room inside of some house. I was not physically there, it was more like the ghost experience. There was a little girl sleeping in her bed, perhaps nine or ten years old... and then I realized that this friendly-looking and Gandalf-like character was there as well.

This Wizard was sitting on a chair beside the bed, and he looked at the girl with a smile and great interest.

I was curious to know what was happening, and then the Wizard released something like a dazzling spark from his hand. The spark just stayed floating there, the Wizard disappeared and later the little girl was transported via magical gateway to some Fantasy world.

At this moment, parts of the story started to reveal themselves to me.

I knew that the little girl had been chosen by that Wizard, so she would start a new life at the magical realm. I saw her in that place, a world of vast forests and green plains, and soon she lived at a great and powerful castle. Some enemy Knights wanted to storm the castle, but a large number of archers defended this girl at any cost.

In my mind, I started to create the narrative just like I do in my waking life.

I was forming the sentences and paragraphs, all of the right words and combinations were coming to me extremely fast and everything was working just perfect... and then I woke up!

It was perhaps twenty minutes before daybreak, just a little of light was starting to come into my room and I remained surprised and rather agitated for a long time. A part of me wanted to grab my Dreams Journal and start writing the story at that very moment, but then my cat showed up and I decided to have some more sleep.

Anyway, the images and feelings are still very intense in my mind. I am not sure whether I should start to work on that story or not, but it does feel very mysterious and attractive.

What do you think? Has something like this ever happened to you?

Thanks Crystalline, it was indeed quite awesome.

What dreams in particular have influenced your stories? Do you have any special scene or plot that was inspired by a dream? In my case, dreams have inspired certain scenes and concepts in my stories but very few of my dreams could transform into a story all by themselves.

Guess what, last night I had another potential story dream!

I was a character similar to Alice from the Alice Madness Returns game, except that the world around me was more friendly than hostile. Also I was exploring, not fighting. I remember that there was a forest, a mysterious house that I explored inside and also some creatures that I was supposed to be chasing.

Then, I fell into a pond in the forest... It was pulling me down, I wanted to escape but it was impossible... and then, I was falling from the sky. I crashed on the summit of a huge and snowy mountain, and for some reason my arrival at that world and my crash caused the peaceful mountain to transform into a volcano.

It did not explode or anything like that, but there was lava and the snow started to melt at the highest parts of the mountain.

The melting of so much snow caused a flood that started to run down the mountain, and this flood looked and behaved like it was some kind of transparent gel even though it was moving very fast. Now, the mountain was huge... I think that the summit was some ten thousand meters above the lowlands around the mountain, at least.

There were many skiers and vacationers in the high areas, and they seemed to be calm and not worried at all about the volcano and the melting snow. I descended the mountain, and I discovered a very nice and peaceful city with many houses, apartment buildings and stylish gardens everywhere.

The people there were also not worried about the gel flood that was on its way to their city, I met a friendly young man and there was also a nice family that invited me to their apartment. I could see everything with stunning clarity and detail, which is most likely one of the effects of the Saint John's Wort capsules that I take every night.

The bedrooms inside of that apartment were huge and really beautiful.

I know that the gel flood arrived, and then finally the city's inhabitants were worried... they were starting to blame the mysterious Star Girl that had fallen from the sky, and then I woke up.

This dream definitely has some very good story potential!

I like the idea of the wizard putting a spark into the young girl's hand and giving her the opportunity to start a new life in other world. Isn't this something all of us could wish for? I think there's something deep and interesting there. I'd be intrigued to know the girl's background and about what happened to her.

I often think the dreams themselves let us know what they want us to do with them - record them, share them, make them into a story. Maybe it's a phase where it just wants you to sit with it and maybe explore its mystery and attraction before writing?

Hello Lorna, it's great to see you here!

I am still intrigued by that dream. The little girl looked so peaceful to me as she was sleeping in her bed, her room was sweet and I could feel immediately that she enjoyed a good life with good parents. However, there was something in her that wished for a Fantasy life and I know that she was very happy to find herself in a new and magical world.

Would she sometimes miss her parents and her old house? What about the parents, by the way?

They would go worried sick trying to find their little daughter, and they would surely think that she was kidnapped in the middle of the night. Would they ever find out what really happened to her? What if they travel to the Fantasy world too?

The Wizard was a good person, I felt that he was benevolent and powerful.

It's my theory that the girl held a great magical potential, so the Wizard and whatever powers that sent him to find the girl planned from the start to use her as a weapon or perhaps a future Queen. This is very similar to what happens in my Joan of England trilogy, in which a powerful Mage called Violet traveled back in time to August and September of 1348.

Violet took the form of a raven, and she guided a princess so a wormhole would be opened in a forest. The lady in question traveled straight to 2007, and she started a new and wonderful life there. The dream about that little girl is kind of the reverse of that: The girl was from a present day world, and she ended up in a Medieval-like Fantasy realm.

I saw her in this splendid rocky castle, entire battalions of those Knights with eerie black armor were trying to capture the castle and who knows how many archers were releasing a storm of arrows in order to protect that girl no matter how many of them would get killed in the fight.

She was definitely very important, and this dream will keep me thinking about it for years to come...
