The other night I had the most unusual and epic dream.
So the dream began with a weird sort of "plot recap" I was like seeing flashes of news broadcasts and emergency alerts. Apparently "something" happened that disestablished the earths structure. Earth was like caving into itself somehow, like giant sinkholes where appearing all over the world. They where hundreds of miles across and getting bigger. The first one appeared in east central China and caused horrifying loss of life! Several hours later a bunch more appeared all over the world. I remember seeing a map of Europe that showed four or five of them and several countries totally collapsed. Then they showed that the sinkholes where continuing to get bigger and now India and Mexico where just gone! I remember that for some reason me, two men who I've never seen before and a woman who I never seen before where chosen to go on this weird missing to try saving the world. We where in some kind of secret command center being briefed on the mission. By this time most of the worlds land had collapsed and there where huge whirlpools in the ocean where the water was falling into more sinkholes. So we where told about this artifact that could stop the disaster and reverse the damage. It was this weird ancient wooden pyramid about the size of a football, it was made of ornately carved wood with gold symbols on it. But it was separated into four pieces. One piece they had in the command center, one was in a museum and was being retrieved. One piece was in a private collection but was destroyed in a fire, and the last piece went missing after being sold in an antique shop years before.
Now thats where the time travel comes in. To get the missing pieces we had to go back and time to where they are last known to be. But the time machine (which was like an imitation TARDIS) had this thing where the length of time you stay in the past equals a length of time the present experiences. I don't know how else to describe that. So we had to recover the missing pieces as quickly as possible. After they gave us the two pieces and some supplies and we started the mission.
The first piece was in the private collection, so we just materialized our time machine inside the place and took it.
Then we went father back in time to the antique shop. The place was huge and had no organization at all. Just old stuff piled all over the place, and of course it was like a big poorly lite maze. So after like an hour of wondering in this mess, we started talking to the owner about it. Turns out she liked it and was keeping it for herself. We offered her gold and jewels that we had for some reason as trade but she refused! So seeing the time passing and there might not be much to save in the future, we just beat her up and took it!
We went back to the present time, there was almost nothing left. The command center was right at the edge of a sinkhole. We assembled the artifact and I guess it works automatically. The ground stopped collapsing and I saw entire cities rise back up out of the sinkholes. It seems all the people that died in the sinkholes where alive again too!
After that the artifact was put into a special vault in case its needed again someday.
At this point one of the characters mentioned something vague about a paradox we caused, but then I woke up.
