Folk monsters!

Does your world have folk creatures? I would really like to hear what you have. You know, like the Germanic sprite "kobold", things like that.

I do use folk creatures, in a way. Though with some D&D inspiration at times. Redcaps, kobalds, sprites and fairies all make a show. Hobgoblins take back a place as house servants of sorts, though they still put up a fight if they need to. Selkies, will o' wisps and other such things show up too. Herne the Hunter in various forms. The Wild Hunt too. I use them pretty liberally.Even djinn and yuki (? Crystal will know most likely). I'll go so far as using nursery rhymes and the like, up to as far as having a character based on the Itsy Bitsy Spider and Mother Goose and the Old Lady Who Lived In A Shoe. In a world based on tales, nothing is all that safe.

The World has its share of folkloric creatures. For example, some like the asnawag, based in Philippine folklore, are just ordinary, if slightly monstrous, beasts one might encounter in the deep woods. Be especially wary if you're pregnant! He'll knock you down from behind, pin you to the ground and with his long pointed beak, punch a hole in your side and pulverise & suck your baby out. He's got a taste for liver, and will probably punch another hole in your side and suck that out too. Once he's satisfied, he'll waddle off, his own belly now distended with yours, and leave you to bleed out in peace.

Many ordinary beast folk have attained folkloric status as well. Take the raven for example. An intelligent by nature, it stands to reason that folk tales and folk literature would abound surrounding this noble bird:The Raven: the Rest of the Story.

Altearth has all of them. I've used a couple of obscure ones. One is the Carrotfinger Man, which I made the focus of a short story. The other is the tarrasque, which I use in A Child of Great Promise.
What's the Carrotfinger Man? I wanna hear more about this, dude! Is it, like, a kappa-esque creature?

For a funny short story I wrote, I made these creatures called Tea Gnomes. These creatures are kept inside a crate which is filled with buildings, similar to a city. Each Tea Gnome has a different color and pattern to their skin, indicating different tea flavors. Once they are bought, their colors are very bright. But, after being used to make tea in a boiling pot, which is essentially a hot tub to them, their color slowly fades until they turn gray. Once all the Tea Gnomes turn gray, they are kept as pets in a large room built into every house, which is essentially a whole country to them.

Sounds really cool, do you have a link for that?
Oh, and welcome to mythic scribes!

Its always great to have a new member!
Would you mind looking at this thread I created to explain, and get help to develop, a magic system I'm currently making. Pretty much all the conflict in the series revolves around this magic system. I would like to have as many opinions and suggestions on it as possible. It's a quick summary of everything though, I didn't go super in depth.

Tricky Magic System I'm Working Out.
