Looking for an editor with a tad of time to spare

Hi everybody,

Last spring I had to return home due to the epidemic. I found myself unemployed and with an awful lot of time at my disposal. Having a little money aside, I decided to invest the summer pursuing amusement and hobbies :D. Almost four months ago, I began to scribble some short fantasy tales without pretension. These tales turned into a modest collection, over 90k marks spread among 6 stories and 2 letters, dangerously reassembling a novel. I’m only a few days away to conclude this curious journey into writing; in the past years, I never let slip away anything I wrote from my secured directory, but this very time I’d like to receive a feedback. I’ve seen there are plenty of options to self-publish your work out there, however, I wouldn’t dare to publish it unless somebody checks my grammar. Although I’ve been living in English-speaking countries for the last 7 years, I’m far for perfection. I really feel my writing needs the touch of native to sand the rough edges.
Often I had fierce arguments with the auto-correcting AI regarding the use of the commas, other times I grieved over the choice of the right verb tenses; 'flip the coin, 50% to blame,' had been a common way to get past it. I struggled to see the threshold between -style- and -no, I appreciate the idea but you can’t do that in English-. :ROFLMAO: Writing fiction in a different language has been a good experience to put myself to the test, but I realized I can’t do it on my own.
Even though partially independent from one another, these stories are narrated in a precise chronological order and revolved around a protagonist. Romance, betrayal, conflict, sacrifice, commitment, legacy, and so on. Most of the themes dealt borders the cliche of the genre, nevertheless, it never aimed to be a tale of great heroes upon which depend the destiny of the world, rather the travel of a simple magician who is determined to return home.

And here we are, is anybody willing to help me proof-reading this? :ninja: (or at least giving a chance to it :D?)
Thanks to all ;);)

There is a guy offering to help proof books down in a sections below (I forget which section he posted!) but I already snagged him for mine! but he might be open to yours as well or dump me for you if he doesn't like mine. Basically he is a student learning to edit/proof and needed a test case.

check in the Marketplace ->Services there are people there as well.

you sound just like me btw, I too had time due to COVID and started writing... just to pass the time but also in case I could actually sell it to make some much needed $$. heh. so far no luck on the money part, but lots of luck on the first bit.

Make a living off writing, that sounds like a dream . I don't wanna have expectations in that regard cause the self-publishing market seems brutal, too many competitors out there...
Anyway thanks for the info, good luck with your work ;)

Oddly enough I have had less time to write during the flu season. Working extra hours to make up for other people taking time off for self isolation because of a cough or sneeze. Regardless, I can look at others works when possible. For one it gives me ideas and helps other find things they could have missed. My observations are broad as Sherlock Holmes style investigations are not my thing. I can take a look at what is brewing to give mine, and only my type of feedback. BTW, my editing skills are not great as every sentence has autocorrect crying over every other word.

If its your dream that is precisely why you should go for it.

Here's the email address of the editor, (Lara), I used a few times. She's easy to work with, reasonable, well-educated and experienced. (And yes, I have her permission to throw her email out there)

Good luck!
