Made some good progress, finished the rewrite of The King's Ball chapter, and closed off two minor characters' arcs. 103k words, 13k of those this month. A scene with the antagonist to set up the finale properly, review some of the in-world chapter epigrams and draft two could be about done.

OK, (takes deep breath) draft 2 is done, just shy of 105k words. Off to the beta readers with it, if I can lure the sullen beasts from their indolent stupor.
Onto book 2 draft 2, which is looking a lot bigger piece of work than it did, owing to the changes to book one's structure.

Wow, absolute congratulations, that is such an achievement! Gives hope, that it really does happen. Now I can't wait to finish up my (first) draft too

I'm currently racing to wrap up Chapter 44 (out of probably 55). Every chapter done now feels like getting me so much closer to the end... Still though, in actuality, there's quite some work left.

Hi guys, I've been editing my novel for NN with the hope of getting through 3 chapters a day and finishing the 2nd draft by the end of November. Only, I found a big plot hole about halfway through and had to go back to the beginning to fix it. So, now I'm up to chapter 10 and going to do as much as I can. I took today off cause I was feeling a little burned out after a couple of weeks of nonstop editing and the setback. Getting back at it tomorrow.

Sounds like youér making good progress! Well done. Nothing wrong with skipping a day, as long as you come back tomorrow. It's a marathon, not a sprint after all.

I'm mostly recovered from being sick now, and I'm currently at 27,223 which is more than I need to get to 50k by the end of the month. Yesterday was my best day, and I managed over 7k words! I'm very happy with how the story is going too. I'm in love with the characters, especially my overly calm, stubborn mercenary who doesn't use the word "you" at all and my sweet former drunk priestess who hates life and doesn't think she deserves to survive. I don't know why NaNo projects always turn out to be my favorite How are you all doing? Are your WIPs going well? Share a little bit if you feel up to it!

Just made it to 50k in 20 days! 80k here we come!

I actually made it through a lot faster last year, but I was extremely sick and missed four whole days early in the month. I'm very happy with my progress and with the story, which turned out to be so much more amazing than I thought was possible. For some reason, my NaNo projects often end up being my most lore-rich, dramatic, and cool stories.

So now the next goal is to revise the first chapter and submit it to the competition I entered and then write 3k words per day to get to 80k by the end of the month, because this story can go so much further for November.

I hope many of you are making awesome progress, whether you're reaching your exact goals or not. You've got this!

For some reason, my NaNo projects often end up being my most lore-rich, dramatic, and cool stories.

There is value in writing fast. A project is a lot more fixed in your head if you write it in one or two months instead of dragging it out over a year. I think in On Writing, Stephen King advocates for writing a draft within 3 months for this very reason.

My progress this month has been pretty anemic, with only about 6k words so far. Though I did replot my story, so there's that. Hopefully things will speed up a bit in the last 10 days of the month. Though I doubt I'll even get near 20k. Still, progress is progress.

Absolutely. The slower I write, the more frustrated and bogged down I get, and eventually I struggle to finish the project at all. NaNo is really valuable for me for that reason.

I feel like 6k is still really good though! Like you said, it's progress, and every month is different as far as how much you'll be able to do. I know a lot of people say November is actually a really bad month for NaNo because there's so much going on for them!

On my side, I'm fully done plotting the hard bits, now I'm down to getting the words on paper. So I had a really late start, but I'm 5000 words in nou and planning to hit 7000 by the end of the weekend!

Thank you so much! I've now made it to 80k and I can honestly say I think the quality is pretty decent. Of course, I haven't reached the editing stage yet, at which point I will probably throw up my hands and shed tears of defeat. That's pretty much what happened last year

I get that! In my case, I'm a little too obsessed, so even when I'm not writing, I'm planning out scenes, plus I had it all outlined ahead of time. So by the time I finally do sit down, it tends to flow pretty smoothly. Still, I don't think writing fast is an absolute necessity. What matters is progress.

Well, I never join Nano, but...this month, I have spent editing. At present, I am applying changes to the last scene that will be changed. So, toady being the 30th, I will complete it just before the end. So...yay me!
