NaNoWriMo Vlog Day 26:

Been really busy and I keep not getting round to updating, but I have been writing every day, I have been making videos every day and... Most important of all... I won!!!

Daily Word Count: 2,252
Total Word Count: 51,892

I wrote 50,000 words in a month! Probably more than I've written in the past 4 years combined. Everybody clap for me and tell be how brilliant I am! Definitely going to tone it down from here. 1,667 words a day just isn't sustainable for me for long periods of time, but I think I'm going to try to keep up the habit of writing every day. Maybe aim for 500 words a day. That definitely seems achievable.

Anyway, check out my cool new Book Nook! Can't wait to build it. It's going to be so fun! 😁
Yay, many congratulations!

Go full on tragedy and have them meet up after years of separation only for, through some misunderstanding involving hiding in the shadows, have one of them accidentally kill the other! Then the dying one declares their love for the surviving one with their last breath and dies in the survivor's arms and the survivor screams, "NOOOOOOO!" 😈 ... I have been reading too much grimdark. 🙄
Well, one of them might get slightly bumped off by a demon at one point, in a heroic act of self sacrifice to save the mortal realm and the gods, that, shall we say, 'doesn't quite have the desired effect'. One possible ending is them both becoming immortal demigods, doomed to an eternity of regretting not getting back together. Does that count as grimdark?

I'm not sure a tragic ending is enough to make something grimdark. Its more the long sustained drift of the story that harsh and dark things happen... If you have that, you might be a better candidate.
For sure. In a world whose most popular and widespread cult is dedicated to increasing mortals' happiness and selfless service to others, I doubt real grimdark is going to happen.

Passed another major milestone! I'm currently at 84,461 words, and last night I finished the entirety of my novel in 26 days! Surprisingly I don't think it's too bad at all, although some of the dialogue towards the end was nauseatingly cheesy. Next steps are to put it through a ton of editing and a couple critique sites (Scribophile and Critique Circle), find a critique partner who can go through the whole novel, connect with some beta readers, and then I think I'm going to try to get it traditionally published. It'll be my first time attempting to go that route, so we'll see what happens!

Good luck with all of that :) Oh and well done a book in a month is an achievement to be proud of.

I am secretly jelly of all you who can complete this on time.
Thank you all very much! I really was not expecting to do so well. I'm a notorious procratinator, so I am pleasantly surprised with myself. 😁

Only slightly 😝

It certainly earns you points. 😈
So...with the four day weekend about to happen, I am at 23K. I might get to 25K by the end of the weekend, but maybe not. So....I got about half way there.

Woohoo for me.
Woohoo!!! 🥳🥳🥳

OMG, that's amazing! So proud of you! It's annoying because I'm aiming for around 100,000 words for my novel and at over 50K I still don't feel like I'm anywhere near the half way mark. Very impressed that you managed to completely the entire novel in less than a month.
find a critique partner who can go through the whole novel
Oh! Oh! Pick me! Pick me! 🙋‍♀️

NaNoWriMo Vlog Day 28:

Been working on a song today! A very mature and sophisticated song consisting of multiple sexual innuendos. Haven't quite finished it yet. I need a few more verses to tie the story together, but here is a little preview of the first verse and chorus. Please forgive my truly terrible attempt at an Irish accent. 😝

Well, I made it to my goal of 30,000 words a whole day early. YAY!
I don't suppose I can keep going at a thousand words per day, but this challenge has got me back into writing everyday (at least everyday I wasn't too full of cold to write without dripping onto my keyboard from my nose). So a huge thankyou to everyone for all of the encouragement and banter along the way, and especially to Dollyt8 for starting the thread.
Well done everyone.

Nope. Definitely not. I need a break. 500 words a day maybe. I can probably make that work.
(at least everyday I wasn't too full of cold to write without dripping onto my keyboard from my nose)
Awh! So sorry to hear that. Hope you feel lots better soon! 🫂

Congrats everyone! And a big thank you. You were amazing!

I've finished a major round of outlining this month and even got a little bit of writing done. I'm happy with the progress I've made. And eager for a well-deserved break.

Yeeah it was great to track things with you and read about everyone's amazing projects but also the hurdles :) I hit some muddy water somewhere half-way, but I still enjoyed reading all your posts. Thanks for sharing everyone and I hope we'll set it up again next year!
