Came across this map

that is really more than just a map. As you can see, there's a variety of alphabets represented. And, in each area of that language is a snippet of text in that language. Dates from 1741.

As it stands here, it's not very useful, but the full size (which was too large to upload) can be had over at Wiki Commons

Where it is quite readable. Scroll down on the page and you'll be rewarded with explanations of much of the map.

The words are the opening of the Lord's Prayer. Even the Turkic one!

Scroll to the bottom and there's a link to maps of the rest of the world. Alas, that graphic is not so crisp.
