Covers: I...Don't Care

Do that many people honestly equate the quality of the cover with the quality of the story?

What? Nobody does that, of course! Yet, I don't think the story is hermetically sealed from its physical form, the book. It's weight, whether it's hardcover or softcover, new or used, the title, the cover, all of this, together with the story, forms a collected impression. Stephen Kings IT is a story, of course. But it's also that massive brick I borrowed from the school library in bygone days.
