Creation story for my current project

This is the basic creation story I came up with for my sword and sorcery story. I wanted to make it short and to the point. Negative and positive can be pretty vague but it's just the typical duality idea that is actually a singularity. Place names and names in general are subject to change of course. :)

Before the beginning of creation there was only the dream of existence in the sleeping mind of the grand creator of the universe as it lay floating in an endless void. When the grand creator awoke, both light and dark emerged in a violent eruption of matter, filling its mind with the potential to manifest an infinite number of forms. The beginning of matter forming into physical objects is defined as the divine spark by the initiated. Though light and dark were defined as separate properties by mankind, they are truly wound around each other in an ever moving singularity. The negative and positive aspects of existence wax and wane as each takes its turn to lead this perpetual dance and move into the dominant position. From this original matter the grand creator made two forms, one positive and one negative. These massive forms began to separate into smaller forms.

Over time these forms began to change and become aware of their existence. They soon evolved into what mankind would eventually call gods. The grand creator formed a home for these beings to dwell called the abyss of which he granted them the ability to create forms within the confines of that space. These beings waited and dreamed as the grand creator formed the solar systems and the planets that filled them. The grand creator filled their dreams with the desire to mold these planets, to create life on them and to order them as they desired. The gods began to create all living things on earth, each taking responsibility for a certain aspect that was closest to their mind and desire. When it came to the actual beings that would populate the earth, the gods found themselves at a loss as their creations sat inanimate, shells without life or thought. The grand creator then instilled upon these beings a spirit and they came to life. The spirit was a testament that they were part of the grand creator and would in time return to their origin as the spirit evolved and became closer to the mind of that which had created them.

Over time the gods formed their own hierarchy, one from each group representing their respective ruler. For the most part both sides avoided interaction with the other, except for those who were more inclined to observe what took place upon the earth, to watch the beings that now lived and breathed and to assist them when they could. However the leadership forbid the other gods to directly intervene on behalf of any being, only to indirectly open up alternate pathways that might lead them in the direction they so desired.

The observation and interaction with the beings of earth began to change, to corrupt certain gods, especially after sentient beings on earth became aware of the gods through dreams and visions. The beings of earth wished to communicate with these powerful beings, they built monuments and temples to worship them, and called upon the gods to protect and guide them. As the gods began to know the mind of mankind the desire to show favor to those who worshiped them grew stronger. This created turmoil amongst the gods and the early days of the world were filled with struggle and strife.

A few questions came to mind, which you may have thought of already. Do people know about the grand creator or only the gods? do the gods worship the Grand Creator or care what he/she/it thinks of their behavior? When you say the two groups are Positive and Negative, do you mean good and evil or simply opposites? If they are only opposing forces but neither is inherently good or evil you could consider using different names. I like that you establish a clear difference in that the grand creator can create life by giving something of it/her/him self, while the gods cannot. does the grand creator involve itself in the dealings of humans? You use "forms" and "formed" several times. It's a good start.

The average person knows about the gods in the same way that Greek citizens knew about their pantheon of gods back in the day. The grand creator is more of a force that is behind the gears that move the universe, and not an anthropomorphic being with a consciousness that's anything like a human. The gods are aware of this force but they themselves are not privy to the mind of the creator. They only know that they were created from this entity. They are just opposites, so negative and positive are definitely overly simplistic.

The grand creator has no involvement with the gods or humans. The title might be a little misleading. Basically everything that exists in the universe is a part of this entity. Mankind's knowledge of the creation is passed down from the gods, but even the gods cannot fathom all there is to know about this force that created the forms they evolved from.

Forms and formed could be seen as an evolution from simplistic matter to what they ultimately become, just in a metaphysical sense, instead of the single-cell organisms evolving into what we are today in the biological sense.
