So, fun birthday fact.
I was born on September 14, 1951, which means I was eighteen in 1969. Which was the first year of the draft lottery in the United States. The first drawing was on December 1. Guess what was the first date drawn? Number 001. Yep, September 14.
Here's where it gets fun. I wasn't even paying attention. Never knew there was a drawing. In fact, I didn't know until just a few days ago. As far as I knew, it was the 1970 drawing, and in that year Sept 14 was somewhere in the 400s. I do remember sweating that one out.
But the Dec 1, 1969 drawing? Sailed right past it. By such strange paths do we come to this place.
