Good writing software/equipment?

I was wondering if anyone here knows of any good writing software or equipment? Also, what software or equipment are you currently using? Me, I use Microsoft word processor '07 (pretty sure that's what its called). I'm just looking to see if there is anything better, or should I stick with what I have?
