Aye sup everybody, so kinda decided to wing it and join a random fantasy site to get some knowledge on certain things, I'm deep into dark fantasy and also very connected to protagonists of african or other descent, I haven't a problem with white characters per say but let's give others a chance aye?... Haha, anyway, aspiring writer, comic writer, artist, philosopher, and working towards joining the army... So... Uhm,

I was gonna say to make sure to meet Jabrosky, but it looks like you already have.

I'm not very familiar with fantasy from any part of Africa--I've read Lauren Beukes, and that's about it. I'm always interested to see what different ideas and different tropes come from different regions, though. Looking forward to seeing what you have to offer.

The thing about African fantasy is that it's a very rare and but unique thing, it's the mythology that I want incorporate into the stories I'm gonna write that'll make them what they're.

If you haven't heard of it already, you might be interested in the "sword & soul" subgenre featuring writers like Charles R. Saunders and Milton Davis. They specialize in just that sort of stuff.

If you're from South Africa, I'm guessing you're most interested in southern Bantu (e.g. Zulu or Xhosa) or Khoisan societies. I must admit I draw more often from ancient Egypt and Nubia than any other part of Africa, but I still like to throw in a few influences from throughout the continent.

Well I'm looking to create a world which is a multicultural african-esque nature, I'm looking to borrow from each nation as well to see their mythology's and use them in such a way that it blends in beautifully as one but than I'm intrigued by Slavic, Nordic and Northern Mythology, to fuse these into one world is the most interesting aspect of whatever I might create.
