HI Everyone. I discovered this forum through a Google search and it seems to have a lot of interesting information about writing fantasy. I have been a fan of the genre for most of my life starting with the Final Fantasy video games and working my way through Lord of the Rings and the usual fantasy fare that follows from that.

I have been toying with the notion of writing my own fantasy stories for a few years now but have never actually taken the time to get started on something. I'm hoping I can get some useful tidbits of information here to get me going.

Hi there, and welcome to the community. I think you'll find writing stories can be very fun and fulfilling especially when you just let creativity get a hold of you. If you have any questions about how to get started, or anything else, just post a thread on the writing questions forum, where there are plenty of people with differing opinions to help you find what works best for you.

What sort of fantasy are you interested in writing?

I am interested in writing high fantasy mostly. That's as far as I've gotte with ideas lately. I've had some ideas in the past but I have either forgotten about them or scrapped them. I was thinking of writing a story about a necromancer who had the power to give disease to people at one time, but it ended up getting too complicated that I trashed it.
