Damn, I am so sick of Facebook, and I miss the old days of Livejournals and forums. Said me, like a million times over the past few years... until I finally got off my ass and found Mystic Scribes!

SO happy to be here!

I am a fantasy fiction writer and avid reader. Tolkien, Arthurian legend, and Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse all have a special place in my heart.

I used to dabble about The Fantasy Forum in the old days. I wonder where that got off to?

I can talk to plants and animals. And I hear all your thoughts, especially the dirty ones. (It just makes me a better writer.)

Can't wait to get to know you!

Welcome. I wasn’t super keen on Shadow and Bone but have Six of Crows to try out. I do however have The Familiar on my to read list which admittedly is more up my street.

I find it hard to login to facebook at all. Every time I go there, I just feel like it has nothing I want, and worse, I find out stuff out people I don't want to know.

Since its whole purpose is to show me the stuff people I know are doing, Its hard to avoid it, and still find it has a purpose. I think I would be okay if I never used it again.

I finally cut facebook off without missing it! One month free!
I definitely needed to find a healthier replacement though, so here I am.

This was quite literally my experience with Facebook:

- in my email: so-and-so is asking if you're her friend! can you confirm whether you're her friend?
(I click yes because anything else feels rude)
- on the website I've been suddenly transported to: congrats! You've joined Facebook! Here's how to set up your account, which you definitely wanted, didn't you? here are 2 dozen things you can or should do with your account. We're sure you are so interested it won't be hard to learn them all!!!
(I do not learn them all)
- next day in my email: here's a dozen friend requests including that creepy guy from college!
(I friend everyone except creepy guy)
- next day in my email: here's a dozen more plus two dozen pokes of various kinds! you must poke these people back!
(I poke them back. Rinse & repeat for a few days except the number and variety of pokes keeps growing.)
- then, in my email, an old friend: I saw you were active on Facebook and you didn't even say hi to me or write anything on my wall! How dare you! I'm so hurt and angry!
(I write back: girl, I don't know what a wall is or how to find yours. this whole thing is so damn confusing, come on. you are a valued friend, OK?? OK?? and also i'm quitting Facebook now)
- the end

I so much prefer message boards. Always have. You're there to talk ABOUT something.

I'm new here too. Nice to meet you all! Got to go to bed, will do intro thread in the morning...
