So, it's been a while since I came on this platform. And honestly, I don't do this enough to have the confidence, nor do I know if this is the right place to put this, but it's a pain not have anyone to talk about my story with, so here goes.
So, my fantasy novel (which has heavy Lovecraft elements) is a metafiction of sorts.
Plot-wise, (for lack of better words) "Reader" had stumbled upon an old tome that links them to the (again, lack of better word, if any) narrator, who is depiecated a a half-hearted, seemingly tired of everything kind of guy in terms of character (but never described). The book induces madness that leads to an untimely and very bad death to whoever reads it, but from the moment it is picked up, the reader is compelled to inevitably read it, so their fate is sealed. Out of pity, the narrator utilises their "power" to turn the contents of the book into a linear story to prolong what would be their final moments.
The linear story (and thus the story's actual plot) centres around a girl who is also a dreamer, a special kind of person who can enter the dreamlands, an adjacent alternate reality literally built upon by the many dreams of sentient beings. This place is also the centre of a cosmic war fought by the Monarchs, basically the world's many god-like beings (based on, of course, the Lovecraft gods) over a tome that could reshape the Dreamlands to anyone'simage. To make a long story short (there is a lot more context to this, however), the girl is framed for a crime she didn't commit and hanged for it, and her corpse is offered in a ritual to the Moanrch both secretly behind said death, and the war itself, to add another avatar for themselves.
What does everyone think about this premise? I know there's a lack of real detail, and I am more than willing to expand upon this all.
