Just how many fantasy novels/games end with 'let's go fight/kill the god/devil' ?

Most of the time when games do this it tends to be 'the 'devil' is trying to take over the world of light, stop them'
But I've also seen the other side. 'The 'god' has become corrupt/is being corrupted in some way and we must stop them'

Both of those things are in quotes because it's not always Christian culture. Though for some games it literally is those two. (Or at least the imagery is heavily there) I've seen it done for other Religions too.

I'm pretty sure even pokemon has done it at least once.

Jokes aside that sounds fun.

We need some games that do that. Have it be more about rebuilding the land and stuff.
It can still have all the RPG stuff you know? But like at least for a bit, have it be about recovering from the great evil tryina take over n stuff.

I think you mean to this to be thread to say, how about we have less stories where it ends with some climatic battle against a god or demon.

I am not sure there is any real reason they should not. Book are about conflict. And conflict drives towards resolution. Something about that should be climactic, and often that is the defeat of the main antagonist/villain. If its epic fantasy, and the stakes are very high, it should not be surprising if the baddie has some type of world threatening status, and god/anti-gods fit that very well. My guess, is humanity will never get tired of such things.

So, I will not subscribe to a notion that there is too much or too little of it. Maybe trends will come, but they will also go.

But, there is nothing special or magic about a book that avoided this, just as there is nothing magic or special about a book that did not. The story must stand on its own. Some will be great regardless of whether it is or is not a story with a climactic battles against a supernatural god/demon.

Gods and demons are good picks. They are often on people's minds.
