Medieval Names

    I can't believe I haven't posted this one before. It's my go-to for names. It's mainly useful if you want European-ish sounding names, but dig around a bit in the corners and you'll find lots of variety.

    The best thing to me about this collection is that all names are derived from historical documents. With citations.

    I am using this:
    Lucifer's Onomastikon (Dictionary of Names)
    Mostly because I'm actually using names from antiquity. But it actually has a list of names for different periods (Ancient, Medieval), different areas (all six inhabited continents) and even some ancient and medieval ethnic groups.

    That's an excellent resource. I wish it cited sources, but that's an academician's niggle. What I do like is that the site provides more information than just the names. I've added this one to my resources bookmarks.
