My "Warm" Welcome to Reddit Where Decency is a Crime and AI-Phobia is a Religion

So I decided to give Reddit a shot. Created a new account posted something simple, clear, and well-structured.

My reward? A direct suspension and a mob of detectives screaming AI! BOT FAKE

What the nonsense stupidity on Reddit

So there is your lesson.
If it is not a permanent ban, next time post something barely coherent with appalling syntax, spelling and grammar.
I have dipped a toe in a few of the Reddit's pools and found it less than helpful.

Not that long ago I got a one month ban from a user's forum for quoting part of the operation manual, when I was asking for clarification on what a statement meant. that was taken to be Bot/AI activity.

What part of redit are you guys visiting? lol
Most places I visit (They tend to be video game communities, mind) tend to be either extremely welcoming, anal about downvoting stuff for no reason, or extremely against anyone having an opinion that goes against the 'this game is godlike' mindset. Sometimes all three!
For video games it generally depends on the openness of the community itself, and I know to stay away from toxic communities like LOL.

It’s funny how platforms built for discussion can be the least tolerant of it.
I used to frequent the gamefaqs forums for a while because they were the only 'active' gaming centric forums.
Took me many years to learn what a cess pool of a place it was.
To be clear, the actual website side (In terms of guides and such) is still the GOAT, but stay away from the forums side unless you want to engage in various forms of echo chambers.

Reddit can be hit or miss, often a miss, but the non toxic comunities can be genuinely good (Like the hyruleengineering community which is centered around Tears of The Kingdom Builds)

Now I just lurk/chat in discords over redit lol

Apparently, imagination now equals AI. Ironically, banning people without understanding seems far less intelligent than the artificial intelligence being blamed.

Reddit is a... weird... place. Each subreddit has it's own personality. Some places are cool. Some are not. Some times you get a genuine interaction. Sometimes you encounter people who only want to hear unconditional affirmation.

I think one of the worst aspects of it is there are people who go on there specifically to troll people. An innocent comment can be met with a snide remark or multiple ones. And sometimes when you look at someone's post history, you can see that's all they do. It's a weird and sad way to spend time.

I've always agreed with the sentiment that there are no stupid questions. Even after encountering Reddit, I still believe that, but I've adjusted things a little. I now believe that a question can be asked in a stupid way.

I would not condemn the entire platform just because one or two (or twenty or thirty) subreddits are atrocious. Sift. Find your people and leave the rest.
