The Blue Book of Grammar

I bought a copy of this book, but you can use it online as well. This is a really good resource for all those nagging questions, especially those rules we don't often make use of.

interesting and educational I do find some mistakes or exceptions to the rules;

Ale; an alcoholic beverage, Ginger ale is not alcoholic.

"New record"; rule avoid using. But there is one exception, if you speak of the old record and the new record in the same paragraph you might need to specify new record. I do agree with the rule genericly. You can't set an old record so "new" is unneeded.

Amount and number is good, never knew that. So a pallet of bottled water could be a good amount of water or a large number of bottles of water.
