Shirley Bosworth
Another great literary mind, she began by publishing under the pen name Boris Worthing. She was a childhood friend of sisters Sylvia and Wilhemina Apted, who told stories to each other using their dolls as characters. In later life she befriended another female author and poet, Edith Whymper, since neither of them married and Edith needed comforting through her fits of depression. Species; domestic cat.
Charles Deville
Son of two comfortably wealthy parents during the Electrical Revolution, his family fell on hard times and he was forced to take a job shovelling waste in a biomass works. These experiences led him to write numerous lengthy novels about the divide between rich and poor in his day. Species; stoat.
Charles Broome
(Species; vervet monkey) A scientist who overturned the accepted views of how life on Aurah came to be. By studying both fossils and living animals, he developed the theory that although life generally changed slowly, shock events caused species to hybridise with each other. Pious anthros, who believed that the Gods had merged man with nature to strengthen them, attacked him and stated there were no fossils to directly support his theories. It continued this way for decades until a dynasty of scientific minds vindicated him...

Dr Manfred Andreas is a polymath with a passion for paeleontology, whose discoveries of hybrid skeleton forms finally gave proof to Broome's claims of hybridisation.
Dr Boston Andreas (he changed his name from Manfred Junior), is an archaeologist and former member of Violan Naval Intelligence. He knows several languages and can carries an ancient quarterstaff to fight would-be enemies. Something of an eccentric, he is unduly fond of his hat.
Carla Andreas is Boston's daughter. Having been a ballerina when she was a girl, she is now supremely fit, devastatingly attractive... and has a worrying penchant for handguns!
